Cornelia, Ga., June 6 -- George Jackson Lewallen, 78, died at his home near Homer Saturday following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Lewallen was born in Banks County and lived there all of his life. He was a Member of the Nails Creek Baptist Church.
His wife, the former Miss Clara Wiley, survives him, with nine sons, Hershel Lewallen, Wilmont, Paschal and Jewell Lewallen, all of Homer; Fred Lewallen, of North Carolina; Roy Lewallen, of Commerce; Golden Lewallen, of Ashland; Howard Lewallen, of Atlanta, and Paul Lewallen, of Toccoa; two daughters, Mrs. Delbert Arial, of Ashland and Mrs. J. P. Farmer, of Toccoa.
Three brothers and three sisters also survive; James Lewallen, of Baldwin; Johnnie Lewallen, of Demorest; Harvey Lewallen, of Macon; Mrs. Charles Ray, of Homer; Mrs. John Polle, of Carnesville and Mrs. Lizzie Ray, of Americus; also 36grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren survive.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 3 p.m. from the Nails Creek Baptist Church conducted by Dr. A. T. Cline. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
