Toccoa, Ga. - Mrs. Clara Wiley Lewallen, 81, beloved matron of the Nails Creek community and widow of Jack Lewallen, died late Monday night in a local rest home. She had been in declining health for three years, seriously ill a short time.
A daughter of the late Wilmot and Fannie Patterson Wiley, she was born Dec. 25, 1882, and spent all of her life in the Nails Creek community.
She was a member of the Nails Creek Baptist Church for 65 years. Her husband died in 1954.
Survivors: two daughters, Mrs. Delbert Ariall, of Carnesville, Mrs. J. P. Farmer, of Toccoa; eight sons, Hershel Lewallen of Jasper, Wilmot Lewallen, of Homer, Fred Lewallen of Douglasville, Roy Lewallen of Commerce, Jewell Lewallen of Homer, Golden Lewallen of Carnesville, Bill Lewallen of Toccoa, Howard Lewallen of Atlanta; 34 grandchildren, a number of great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held from the Nails Creek Baptist Church at 3 p.m. Wednesday, the Rev. J. E. Cornette and the Rev. W. J. Reynolds officiating. Burial church cemetery.
Pallbearers: Max Edwin, Broadus, James, Hershel and Jackie Lewallen. They are to meet at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The body at the funeral home, will be placed in the churcy 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The family is at the residence of Bill Lewallen on Currahee Heights.
