Funeral services for Arvel Dean Lewallen 72, of Denver City were held on Saturday, July 22, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. in the first Assembly of God Church in Denver City. Rev. Ronnie Lunsford officiated. Interment followed in the Lazbuddie Cemetery at 3:30 p.m. Services were under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home of Denver City.
Mr. Lewallen passed away Thursday, July 20, 2006 in the VA hospital in Amarillo.
He was born October 10, 1933 in Brady to Jim and Lois Lewallen. He married Etta Janette Dyke on February 18, 1960 in Muleshoe. He served in the U.S. Army from December 1958 to May 1959 receiving an honorable, medical discharge. Before retirement, he worked for Mustang Mobile Homes in Denver City.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Etta, a son, Jimmy Lewallen, his parents, Jim and Lois Lewallen, and three brothers, Wilford (Smokey) Lewallen, Robert (Bobby) Lewallen and James (Jamie) Lewallen.
He is survived by two sons, Richard Dale Lewallen of Amarillo and Dwight Lewallen of Levelland, a daughter, Carol Milam of Lubbock two stepdaughters, Debra and Rhonda; three sisters, Zelda Jordan of Gorman, Laverne Winn of Muleshoe and Barbara Bell and husband D.C. (Bo) of Denver City and a sister-in-law, Wanda Russell of Floydada; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews
