JEWEL LEWALLEN CLEMSON - Jewel Cordelia DeFoor Lewallen, 107, formerly of 105 Oak Street, died Sunday, July 6, 2008 at the Cottingham Hospice House in Seneca. Born in Eastanolle, GA, she was a daughter of the late Albert Sydney Johnson DeFoor and Julia Belle King DeFoor. She was retired as a linotype operator for Clemson Printers. Mrs. Lewallen was a member of First Baptist Church of Clemson where she was a part of the Sara Cooper Circle of the WMU. She was also a part of the "Widows Club", an informal luncheron club of local friends which meets the last Tuesday of each month. Surviving are a daughter, Betty "Lew" Blackmon of Six Mile; a sister, Edith Henderson of Monks Corner; seven grandchildren, Mark Blackmon, Bruce Blackmon, Julia Wrench, Frank Blackmon, Carl Wayne Jackson, Tom Lewallen, Wanda Lewallen; great-grandchildren, Sara Blackmon Julian, Lorena Blackmon, and numerous others; and several great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas W. Lewallen; two sons, Frank Bernard Lewallen, Albert Bruce Lewallen; a daughter, Mary Ruth Jackson; a brother; and five sisters. Funeral services will be 3 PM Thursday at First Baptist Church of Clemson with Reverend Robert Gammon officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6 PM until 8 PM at Duckett-Robinson Funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to OMH-Hospice of the Foothills; 390 Keowee School Road, Suite 5000; Seneca, SC 29672 or to Collins Children's Home; PO Box 745; Seneca, SC 29679. Martha, is she a relative of yours?   If so, my deepest sympathies.   Death of family members is never easy to take.   She was certainly blessed with a long life.

No this is not my husbands direct line.

This line does go back to Joseph Lewallen {1763 in North Carolina} & Elizabeth "Betsy" Watson, married July 14, 1842 in Franklin County, Georgia. My son in law is related to this line.
