      Buffalo District ... Commencing at a stone monument 780 ft N from _S 1/4 cor and S boundary of Sec 5 marking cor No 1 and point of beginning and witnessed by a white oak tree 18 in diam E 41degrees N dist 25 1/2 ft and a double white oak W 22 degree dist 12 1/2 ft thence N 1500 ft to Cor No 2 thence E 600 ft to Cor No 3 thence S tracing sec line of Turning Point Mining claim 1500 feet to Cor No 4 and thence W 600 ft to point of beginning including all deps speures angles and parallel veins within said boundaries same being located in SE 1/4 Section 5 Township 19 N Range 15 W Marion County Arkansas the name of this claim is Evening Star and persons are notified not to trespass on this claim in any manner whatever located this 21st day of January AD 1889 by Joseph G Lewallen Locator

On the same day he filed his claim for the Evening Star claim Joseph G Lewallen acted as agent for a claim by Wesley P Lewallen called the Turning Point claim which was located next to the above Evening Star claim.

      Buffalo District ... commencing at a stone monument 340 feet W and 180 ft S from the NE corner of Sec 8 marking cor No 1 and point of beginning and witnessed by a red oak tree 18 inches in diameter W 22 degrees S distant 6 ft and a post oak 15 inches in diamter S 45 degrees E dist 34 feet thence N 1500 ft joning connecting link mining claim to cor No 2 thence W 600 ft to cor No 3 thence S 1500 to cor No 4 then E 600 ft to point of beginning including all disp spiers angles and parcellel veins within said boundaries same being situated in Eastern Portion of Sections 5 & 8 Township 19 N Range 15 W Marion County Arkansas the name of this claim is Spanish Ridge Lot No all persons are notified not to trespass on this claim in any manner whatever Located this 25th day of Jan AD 1889 by Joseph G Lewallen Locator

In looking at these names and knowing the DNA connects somewhere, I still maintain there's a close connection between this family and that of my ancestor Wiley (b ca 1795 N.C.)   At least there were the same given names with them - Joseph, Henry, Wesley.

The Wesley name is more likely to be from Joseph's father-in-law, John Wesley Due.
