QUAPAW, Okla. - Bruce Turner, 73, Quapaw, Okla., died at 9:50 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2005, at Integris Baptist Regional Medical Center, Miami, Okla., following a long illness.
He was born Oct. 5, 1931, at Dallas, Texas, the son of Clifford Bruce and Gracia Clyde (Bell) Turner. He had lived in the Quapaw area for the past 25 years, moving there from Oklahoma City, Okla.
Mr. Turner was a contractor and was a partner in the Arrowhead Construction Company for several years, retiring one year ago. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army.
On Feb. 26, 1988, he married Phyllis June Binderim at Charington, La. She survives.
Additional survivors include one son, Norman Bruce Turner of Tuttle, Okla.; one daughter, Juli Beth Mussi of San Antonio, Texas; one step-son, Billy Shane Lawellin of Miami, Okla.; two sisters, Norma Jean Davis of Sacramento, Calif., and Janet Fallwell of Oklahoma City; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, at Derfelt's Baxter Chapel, Baxter Springs, with the Rev. Jack Daniels officiating. Burial will be in Gandy Cemetery, west of Galena. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
