Matthew Rice (probably Matthew Rice JR) lived right next door to Anderson Lewelling, Jesse Lewelling and William Lewelling. Anderson Lewelling married Lucy Rice 1784. Matthew Rice JR. married Margaret Lewelling/Llewellyn.

The will of Thomas Lewelling, October, 1787, Prince Edward County, "left entire estate to Alice Rice, his niece". Margaret was the daughter of this Thomas. Charles Rice, Matthew's brother was apparently the father of Lucy Rice - as the links above suggest.

Thomas Lewelling of Prince Edward Co., VA wrote his will 20 October 1787, he left to his niece Liddie Rice daughter of Matthew & Margarett Rice my grey mare with all my money that is due me for my crops, with all that I have in my possession at this time, together with my chest and every other thing belonging to me except my wearing apparel ..........The will was produced and proven at the October Court 1788; Order Bk 9, pg 66. This will is saying that Margarett who married Matthew Rice was a sister to Thomas; Liddie (Lydia) being their daughter, therefore making her the niece of Thomas.

More Rice genealogy but not from Prince Edward County. This was found on Ancestry. I don't know the sources though. Am posting it because of the middle name of "Grant" which is what Anderson's middle name has also been given as.

There was an Isaac Rice who died 1865 in Pickens county, S.C.
