History of Jay County, IN - Mishach and Hannah Lewallen

Billie Harris - Jun 15, 2012

On Ancestry today I came across an interesting story about the wife of John Brooks who endured tremendous hardships as a young wife in Ridgeville, Indiana in the early 1800's, and living in wilderness with no white settlers for ten years and John gone much of the time.   A really interesting story!   I tried to find it on the internet but couldn't.

John Brooks moved to the area because his sister, Hanna Lewallen, was there, although they didn't settle near Hannah and her husband, Mishack Lewallen, in fact, miles away.   This Mishack would have been the son of Shadrach and Deborah Burson Lewallen.

I did come across this site which tells about the families though.
