shadrach lewallen

Renee Nazario - Jun 23, 2012

Hi: I found that the Shadrach living in Scott County was born in 1807 North Carolina and was married to Elizabeth (Stepp) Lewallen and they died in about 1862 in a small pox outbreak. Her father was James Stepp so listed in the will attached address In the 1860 census Shadrach is listed as S. Lewallen with the following living in his house: Elender 18, Mary 16, Elizabeth 14, William 13, Nancy 6/12 grand daughter/ Her sister Jane also lived with them at one time. I found the will on Google look-up by typing----Henderson Co., NCgenweb-James Stepp-died 1821.--- I tried to copy the address but it did not open. Still looking for the father of Zachariah/it is however interesting that he listed his name as Davis and not Lewallen on the marraige license-his bother in law performed the marriage to Nancy McDonald brother and JP Allen McDonald he would have known Zachariah's name. Keep digging I will either hit oil or the truth. Renee

Renee, who signed their name Davis instead of Lewallen?   Was it Zachariah?   If you remember, my Luallen/Lewallen's family DNA came back Davis instead of Lewallen.   Still looking for where that happened.   I would be interested to learn what you find out.   Darlene

Zachariah's name is listed as Zachariah Davis on the 1838 marriage record.   Interesting I did not know your dna came back as davis.   hope this helps

I have the license posted on the site on photos under other history.

Darlene would you post your Lewallen/Lawson family history please.   I also have a Lawson on my father's side.

My great great grandfather Matthew Lewallen (Louallen) married Sarah Lawson in Campbell County in 1841 (probably this was later part of Scott County where they are found on the 1850 census).   Sarah's father was Thomas Lawson, born in Puncheon Camp, TN in 1803 (married Nancy Jeffers).   Thomas is buried in Erath County, TX.   His parents were Randolph & Sussannah (Cross) Lawson.   Thomas Lawson had 3 wives and lots of children.   He and Nancy had the following children:   Sarah, Susannah, Andrew, Elisha, Christine, Lewis, Jeremiah, Elzick, Henry, Peggy Ann, Lucinda, Lakey, Amanda, Elvira, and Elmira.   Lots of research has been done on the Lawsons!

There are 4 Lawsons married into my McDonald line as follows:   George McDonald and Ruthee Lawson, Allen McDonald first married Lakie Jeffers than had one child each with Pherbie Jeffers and Judy Jeffers then he married Christina Lawson, during the war he escaped or was released from captivity and made it to Andrew Lawson's house but do to the fighting a doctor could not get through and he died from camp fever James McDonald 1814 and Malinda Lawson, Emilia McDonald and Samuel Lawson:   Lucretia Lawson married Blackburn Thompson and Zachariah and Nancy filed a Petition for the war of 1812 for Lucretia.   My father's Carroll line has Richard Lawson 1789 McMinn County Tennessee married to Mary Polly Campbell 1794. His Richard's headstone reads Richard Lawson consort of Mary Lawson and the records at the cemetery someone said the book lists Lewis Lawson as his father?   Randolph and Susannah attended the wedding of Lucretia Lawson and Blackburn Thompson also attending were Milly Phillips, Mary Prewitt, Elisa Lawson, James English and John and Sarah Jeffries.   There is some question if Randolph and Susannah are the parents of Lucretia or if Robert and Anne Lawson are her parents I am more likely to believe Randolph and Susannah are her parents, any idea.   Thanks.

Renee, where was Zachariah and Nancy married?   Scott County wasn't in existence 1838.

Renee Nazario - Jun 23, 2012

Probably Campbell since Zach said he knew Lucretia and Blackburn Thompson from 1838 to 1855 in Campbell County Tennessee.

The name Zachariah run throughout the Davis Family and I also found a Zachariah Rice who was the uncle of Lucy Rice and about the same age as Lucy.

Darlene Luallen Griffin - Jun 23, 2012

Renee, have any of your male Lewallen relatives taken the DNA test with Family Tree DNA?   We could be cousins!!!!

Renee Nazario - Jun 24, 2012

No.   My uncles have passed on and I am not really in contact with any of their male children.   Guess I should try to find someone to do the dna since the Davis name keeps popping up.   Thanks, for your family line.

Something I've wondered about for Zachariah Rice.   I've seen the name Ica or some similar spelling and yet can't find a given name like that so have wondered if that might be short for Zachariah Rice.

Renee Nazario - Jun 24, 2012

I have not seen that name on anything I have found so far, but will look for it now.   Thanks.
