Pernie Robbins Ellis, 91, of Ludlow, Ky., and formerly of Robbins, passed away Wednesday morning, June 10, 1987, at the Booth Memorial Hospital in Florence, Ky. following a short illness. Mrs. Ellis was born in Scott County, Tenn. on April 20, 1896 and was the daughter of the late M. J. (Mitt) Robbins, Sr. and the late Etta Robbins. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Berbin Ellis; two sons: Boyd and A. V. Ellis; four brothers: M. J. (Mitt) Robbins, Jr., Helton B. Robbins, Joe Maynard Robbins, and infant Wiley Robbins; and two sisters: Glenna Robbins and infant Ruby Alene Robbins. Mrs. Ellis was a member of the First Baptist Church in Robbins for 76 years. She is survived by four daughters: Leola Hurtt of Ludlow, Ky., Loretta Cirilli of Royal Oak, Mich., Glenna Colborn of Hazel Park, Mich., and Joette Baugh of Park Hills, Ky.; five sons: Eugene R. Ellis of Robbins, Berbin Ellis, Jr. of Florence, Ky., M. J. Ellis of Tamarac, Fla., Ed Ellis of Cincinnati, O., and Kenneth Ellis of Ludlow, Ky.; twenty-seven grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; one niece, Shelia Kaye Robbins of Oneida. Funeral services were conducted from the First Baptist Church in Robbins at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 14, with Rev. Hubert Terry officiating. Irene Chitwood, Imogene King, and Karen Jo Baugh, Mrs. Ellis's granddaughter, sang. Burial followed in the Hazel Valley Cemetery. The Sunshine Chapter #279 Order of the Eastern Star of Robbins conducted an Eastern Star Memorial service at 8 p.m. Saturday at the West-Murley Funeral Home chapel. Pallbearers were grandsons: James Cirilli, Gene C. Ellis, Kenneth Ellis, William D. Ellis, James Ellis, and Keith Ellis. West-Murley Funeral Home in Oneida is in charge of the arrangements.
