My Grandfather Campbell C. Lewallen was born Aug. 26, 1839 in Morgan County, TN. He was the son of John and Delilah Reed Lewallen. He married Malinda (Nillie Ann) Young Oct. 12, 1865. She was the daughter of Matthew and Elizabeth Lewallen Young and the granddaughter of Andrew L. and Malinda Davis Lewallen. They were also Campbell's aunt and uncle.
Campbell served in the Civil War, volunteering Nov. 10, 1861. He served under Second Lieutenant David Gray, Company "I" 12th Regiment of Kentucy Infantry. He was discharged Feb. 3rd, 1865. He received bounty under Acts of July 28, 1866. He was a farmer and large land owner. He owned a large tract of land known as the Black Oak near Oneida, TN at his death. It was bought from his heirs by Grover C. Pemberton.
Millie Ann was born Oct. 3, 1839, died Sept. 25, 1917. Campbell died Sept. 26, 1918. They are buried at the Family Cemetery near his home place, about four miles east of Glen Mary, TN. They lived in Wayne Co. KY between 1866 - 1872, where four of their seven children were born. Granny was home sick, Granddad left one day riding his horse and came back few days later carrying his saddle. He had traded his horse for the place they were living at the time of their death.

- Nancy Elizabeth, b. 1878 in Scott Co., TN, never married, d. 1957
- Ulysses Matthew, b. 1884 in Scott Co., TN, m. Abbie Pemberton, d. 1933
Campbell Watss said they were such a good family he came back to get his second wife when the first one died.
