Barbara,

Could you tell us how you are connected to the Llewellyn, Lewallen, Lewelling, Luallen, Lewellen, etc ?

Barbara Hensley - Apr 19, 2009

Dorothy,
Priscilla Harris, daughter of Wiley and Elizabeth Hearne Harris, married John Llewelyn in probably Randolph Co., N.C. , c. 1810 and by c l816 they were in Wilson Co., Tn. where John bought land and livied near Priscilla's siblings and parents. Shortly after l820 John sold his land and moved to Madison Co., Tn with Wiley Harris and other siblings of Priscilla following. John Llewelyn is not in the l830 census but in l838 the school census shows Priscilla with two children in school. There is a marriage listed for Wiley Llewely and Catherine Pane   in   l828 Madison Co., Tn. By l850 Priscilla is in Henderson Co., Tn listed in the census   living with Alfred Lewellen   age 29 and his wife, Jane. age 31. She is 60 years old, born NC. Next to them is Wiley Lewellen with young wife, Sarah age 24. and children Arminta 16, Margaret 15, Wiley l0, Elizabeth 9, Samantha 4, John W 2 and Sarah J. 912. W. Alfred's   age 29, children are Lucy J 9, William 8, Matilda and Mary 2/12.
I cannot locate Wiley Lewellen or any of his family except Samanta after that. She is in the l870 census living with Joseph Threadgill 52 NC. and Frances E. SC 42 and their children.
In l867, Nov. 4, Alfred M. Lewelling is the executor of Priscilla's   will with Sutton Manley and Jasper Rogers B. M.   The Henderson Co. Courthouse papers were destroyed by the index to the will of Priscilla was saved.
I can trace Alfred's family but not Wiley's.     A, M.   Lewelling   of Henderson Co, Tn took loyalty oath     A. M. Lewelling Private Co. G 7 Tn Infantry l862. I think this is Alfred but cannot find him in the l870 census.
Priscilla Harris Lewelling was the sister of my gg grandfather, Stephen R. Harris.
I have been unsuccessful in connecting with any descendants of John and Priscilla Harris Lewellen nor can I find the parents of John.j
Thank you for your reply.

Barbara, thanks so much for sharing your line with us. Maybe someone on the site will be able to help. We are trying to see how many lines that we can connect with every ones help.

It is for sure the Llewellyn, Lewallen, Lewelling, Luallen, Lewellen, etc., no matter what the spelling is connected somehow, we just have to prove it.

Hope you will enjoy the site and please add any photos or info that you may have so we all can try and help with this connection.

Billie is really good at this, she has written a book on her line as well. She has done a lot of research. Do you have any males in your line that could or would want to do a DNA testing? Maybe this would help to connect.

Billie Harris - Apr 21, 2009

Barbara, thsi really fasciantes me, noting the given name of Wiley.

"My" Wiley Lewallen was born North Carolina 1795 and I've been trying to find where that given name came from, thinking it might be a clue on who his parents were.   From the DNA tests, he is somehow related to Anderson Lewellen from Prince Edward County, VA, and Wake County, N.C..   He and Anderson are somehow connected to the William Lewelling who died in Randolph County, N.C. also per DNA tests.

There was an Alfred Lewelling - in fact more than one - who descend from William Lewelling of Randolph County, N.C. and at first I thought your Alfred would be from that line because Alfred isn't all that common of a given name.   But from what I've found in just looking again, it doesn't seem the Lewellings from Randolph County were in Tennessee.

As Dorothy asked, do you have any male Lewallens that would do a DNA test to see if your line connects somehow with that of a descendant of Wiley's?   That might help.

This isn't my direct line so can't help with DNA testing.
Thanks.
