Rev. Alvis Carlie Lewallen, 81, passed away May 31, 2009, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville.
Born June 1, 1927, he was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Fannie Ellis Lewallen; infant son, Robert Lewallen; brothers: Harley, Harvey, Julius, Edward, Jr., and Doc Lewallen; and one sister, Linda Odessa Lee.
He is survived by his wife, Reba York Lewallen; his children: Charlotte Rose Hensley of Dalton, Ga., Boyd Lee Lewallen and wife, Sandra Kay, of Robbins, and Deloris Ann Hansen and husband, Charles, of Stafford, Va.; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one sister, Dollie Bowling of Oneida; one brother, William Lewallen and wife, Frieda, of the Honey Creek community; and many other relatives.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m., until time of funeral service at 8 p.m., Thursday, June 4, in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy LaRue and Rev. Jeff Chaney officiating. Music will be provided by the Singing Hambys. Masonic service will be conducted by Scott County Lodge #670 at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, June 5, in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home. Graveside service will be conducted at 12 noon, Friday, June 5, at Black Creek Crossroads Cemetery.
West-Murley Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
