This morning Dorothy posted a 1792 Will for Alexander Lewallen in the File cabinet and asked who he was. Dorothy, I'm glad you posted this even though we already have it somewhere here on the site. Because of this posting, I quickly looked at what we have in Edgecombe County and I think we may now have a connection of the Shadrach who married Deborah Burson to the William who died in Randolph County, N.C. - AND they MAY have been Flewellings originally.
Alexander's Will was witnessed by James Lewelling. Alexander had a son by that name but his son could not have witnessed the Will, however, with the same surname they obviously were somehow related.
In Halifax County, N.C. 1786, a William Flewelling died. In his Will he names a son Alexander, one named James, plus he named sons Shadrach and a William among others. The James who witnessed Alexander's Will would have been his brother. Sometime in 1785, Shadrach died in either Virginia or in Pennsylvania so probably William wasn't aware of Shad's death when he made his Will. William's son, William, died 1799 in Randolph County, N.C. and is children were named almost identical names as his brother Shadrach's children. Many of these people were Quakers.
It sure seems to me this would connect the family. Take a look at Edgecombe, Halifax and Randolph counties in the following post:

Input from others about this probability would be helpful. What we really need now are DNAs from descendants of Shadrach and from Alexander; we have one from a descendant of William of Randolph County.
