Darlene, I just read your online Family Tree and notice Hornbeck in there.   Have you done a genealogy on the Hornbecks?   My first cousin married Bill Hornbeck (now deceased) so just wondered.   He was born 1915 in Arkansas and died 2007 in Sacramento.   I don't know where his family was from but many of the Hornbecks were from Kentucky so his may have been from there, too.

Billie,
Researchers long before me did research on the Hornbeck/Hornback line.   I found lots of info on ancestry.com that goes way way back...some of which seems to be in dispute.   I have most of that on my ancestry.com Luallen tree.   My mother was told that her family was of German descent.   I grew up telling everyone I was Welsh (Luallen)/Irish (Routh)/German(Hornbeck).   My research says that the Hornbecks were Dutch.   The b was originally a v.   I'll have to check where my Missouri Hornbecks came from.   I'll let you know.   We really are all one family, aren't we?

Sure seems that way.   If you can find out about the Missouri Hornbecks, I'll see what I can do about tracing his line a little.   He wasn't connected to my Lewallen line but to the Jones line - and talk about a name that's hard to trace, try Jones !

Billie,   here are my Hornbeck ancestors beginning with my greatgrandfather:
John Franklin Hornbeck   born 1843 in Cooper County, MO; died 1918 Cedar County, MO
Samuel Hornbeck b. 1812 TN; died 1878 Cedar County, MO
Michael Hornbeck   b. 1786 TN; died 1860 MO
James   b. 1742 Kingston, Ulster, NY; died 1791 Mercer County, KY
Jacobus Hornbeck   b. 1700 NY; died 1757 VA
                               Warnaar Hornbeck b. 1645   NY
Joos Van Hoornbeecke b. 1604 Ghent, Flanders, Netherlands
Jansen Van Hoorenbeke   b. 1464 Ghent, Flanders, Netherlands

At that point the researchers do not agree on some of the lineage so I didn't add anymore to my tree.   A lady from Tehachapi, CA named Shirley Hornbeck has volumes of information on all the Hornbeck lines.   She contacted my mother probably 25 years ago so I don't know if she is still living.   I think she published a book on the Hornbecks.   You might google her and see what comes up.
