Carol Redd - Apr 3, 2011

We now have 3 new Carter family members; Angie Carter Ridder, and Rob and Ken Carter.   These three match my Lewallens, which also means they match Richard's and Billie's, too, I think.   Ken has been kind enough to share with us his Carter research.   [NOTE: broken link].   Perhaps there are some names which might strike someone and give us an ah-ha moment!

Of course, this is just the beginning of the fun!   I do not know which Lewallen fathered my John Preston Sexton, b Sept 1859 Morgan Co, TN, but my suspicion is John Lewallen, b 1836 Morgan Co, TN, son of William and Nancy.

These three Carters descend from Sally Carter whose children were said to all be fathered by the same man - dna has now proven that at least two of them were fathered by a Lewellyn.   Sally's sister, Elizabeth Carter, married Green Berry Lewellyn in Campbell Co, VA. (name and location of Elizabeth's husband corrected by Carol Redd 4/4/11)

Daniel Llewellyn is another exact match for us.   His sister, Mary, has traced their line back to John S. Llewellyn 1813 in Gloucester, Gloucestershire, England to Beech Creek, Clinton, PA.   His lineage is shown on Ancestry:   [NOTE: broken link]

I believe we need to explore Charles' line down thru present as best we can.   William Lewallen, 1809 TN, named his firstborn Anderson (after his father?), 2nd was John, 3rd was Charles.   I don't have Anderson's line to know what he named his sons - I'm sure it's posted on the site here somewhere.

So, anyone who has some time, please see what you can find on these lines so that we can locate living Llewellyns to test in the next few months.

In the meantime, John Carter's wanting to test to provide us info on Andrew (1829 Scott Co, TN).

Shaping up to be quite an active year!

This may be a stupid question,   but is it possible your Mary Carter might have raised Charles and Sally's children and the children took the Carter name for some reason?

Hi Carol.... I tried the link for Daniel Llewellyn, and it takes me to ancestry.com but after I login it doesn't take me to the link... any ideas? --Rob

Rob, I stay logged into Ancestry.   Try logging in first, then come here and click the link.   It took me directly to the Family tree I thought might be of interest.   Let us know how that worked.   I'm not going to be on here much longer.   Been up since 4:30 a.m. after only 3 hours sleep.   It's that time of year.   Just one more week and lots of tax returns to complete!
