Has any one of the Lewallens... participated in the Family Finder test?

We will. We are just having so much difficulty finding our great great grandfather's parents, and/or siblings, and we descend from Celia, Melia, and Delia Lewallen (all Daughters of Jonathan Lewallen), so either mtdna, or Family Finder test is the only coarse we can take to see where we fit. And the Closes Generation is with in 16 for the highest level mtDNA, and with Family Finder it can come as close as 5 generations, and the Family finder test is 10 dollars less that the highest level mtDNA test. So, Family Finder makes the most sense. I just don't know what they compare the results to, I think they compare it to everything including YDNA- which would likely yield a match to A GROUP of Lewallens. And we have good reason to believe that we are a branch from some of the folks here, but were can be sure, nor sure which group here, yet. We wanted to know other people's experience with the Family Finder, and if a Lewallen has used, it far more the better for comparison over all. If any one knows something we would appreciate the input. Either way we will keep y'all abreast of the happenings on our tests.

I don't have any info on the various female tests, but we do have one in the group who has done the mitochondrial DNA hypervariable region 1 (HVR1) test. She is Carol Sue Hartman. Perhaps she will give us all some info on the test and how well it is connecting her to new cousins.

I thank you, and hope Ms. Carol Sue Hartman can share her experience. (My appologies for such terrible spelling and grammar in my last post- I was in a hurry- and well I guess, I shouldn't hurry so much... sorry.) I wanted to say that the mitochondial DNA is the mtDNA that I was speaking of in my last Post. I would like to know how went for her.

I have submitted my DNA to the FamilyTreeDNA site for the Family Finder test. I have lots of matches, (cousins) and have not had time to check them all out.
I am descended from John Lewellen of Preble Co, OH. I hope all of you send in your DNA so that we can see whether or not there is a relationship between the Ohio and Indiana Lewellens and the more southern Lewallens.
