I need your help!   I just heard from a researcher whose DNA matches with my cousin's.   Her research keeps leading her to a Nathan Davis.   My family's DNA matches at 67 markers with a man whose ancestor is Nathan Davis.   Her family name is Sessions which really rings a bell with me and I don't know why.   Do any of you have the Sessions name in your tree?

Darlene, yes, Sessions rings a bell but I can't find anything on here that gives the name.   I did check GenForum and found a posting that a Judge Jay Sessions adopted a Davis but there was no date nor a state so that isn't much to go on, although it seemed to imply it was many years ago.

We do have this in Davidson County, Tennessee.   I can't recall who provided the information:

1806 - Nathan Davis married Sally Davis July 10

1806 - By the October Term 1806, a son-in-law of JOHN DAVIS, SR, had died and an inventory of the sale of his estate was presented to the Court by NAOMI ALEXANDER, admrx. Persons listed: NAOMY ALEXANDER, NATHAN DAVIS, ENOCH ANSLEY, JAMES GRAY, THOMAS COLE, JOHN GRAVES, THOMAS STEPHENS, WILLIS SMITH, JAMES GAMBELL, FREDERICK OLIVER, GEORGE KILLAM, WILLIAM DAVIDSON, JAMES GOODWIN, ENOCH OLIVER, and LEVEN MARSHALL

I checked Ancestry for a Judge (not knowing if that was a title or first name) and a Jay Sessions but couldn't find anything helpful without an approximate year.

I had another email today from my new "cousin".   Her Sessions are in SC/Alabama/Georgia.   She suspects that her Sessions ancestor was probably a Davis that was orphaned and adopted by Sessions.   Interesting that you found an actual case where that happened.   I will pass that info on to her.   The Nathan Davis that is our apparent ancestor died in NC.   His sons moved to TN though.   Thanks for checking.

Darlene, you might check GenForum on Sessions because in some of the information I came across for that surname, the state of Georgia was mentioned.
