I wanted   to telll you that years ago (like 20) I ordered
everything that was available on Zachariah Lewallen from the Tennessee State Archives.
There were many land records.   Matthew Lewallen was the
surveyor on one (1849)   and there was an Emmanuel Lewallen bordering the property of Zachariah in another.   Zachariah's property was sold to his son-in-law Berry Bolling when they left Tennessee.   Unfortunately, when
we moved in 2006, they were misplaced/lost.
However, I thought you might like to know these records do
exist.

Carla, thank you.   Any and all contributions help in our research.

We may have information on the land regarding Matthew and Zachariah but I haven't come across the name of Emmanuel before.   If you ever find the information, let us know.   And boy, do I know what it's like to lose or misplace things when moving.   We've lived where we are now for almost ten years and I still haven't unpacked some boxes. Guess I don't need the things if I haven't got to them before now.

Hi:

Thanks for the Info.   I am a desendant through Amos Lewallen Zachariah's next to youngest son.   Welcome aboard.   I saw the name Emmanuel Lewallen somewhere recently will try to back track and find it again.

Renee,
I spoke with Amos' descendant who lived near Shep Community, many years ago (before my computer crash). He was the one who told me where Zack & Nancy & Sheriff
John were buried.   He was in his 90's at the time.   I wish I had been able to travel there at the time because he loved to talk and later   I received a couple of letters from him.
My notes flushed from my file. (I once believed in the possibility of a paperless society -I was young, what can I say) I seem to remember he may have been blind, because he had to dictate the letters.   The letters are probably with Zachariah's land records.

Hi:

It would be nice to read the letters, hope you can find them someday.   My grandparents lived in Ovalo for years.   I did not get to see them often enough my father always was moving somewhere.   I met his (John's) bothers and sisters at the 50th anniversary in 1963 but I was 7 years old.   I just remember everyone being tall and older. Amos and Nancy were long dead when I was born.   My mother is 93 and she said that her parents just did not talk about their ancestors.   She did not know that Zachariah and Nancy McDonald Lewallen were Amos' parents.   She remembers a family reunion in the 1930's in Sweetwater but not much about the people there. The people there would have been James Mason (Shep), Joel L (Sweetwater), Amos (Lawn & Ovalo) and William (Temple) the meeting was in the Farm Newpaper but my copy is really bad.   It just said that 4 brothers meet after 34 years.   My grandparents were John Edward   and Ella Crisp Lewallen.   Nice to meet cousins from Michael's family.   There is a picture of Amos and Nancy and also John under the Anderson and Lucy album.   Renee
