Martha Abbey published "Llewellyn Traces" for a period of time and those newsletters are very helpful to those of us researching our genealogies.   I've tried to contact Martha and her husband by telephone and by letter but haven't been successful.   I've even telephoned the most recent number showing for them on the internet, only to find that the number now belongs to someone else.

I only have one issue of Llewellyn Traces and yet I know others were published.   I've extracted some/most of the information I have in the one I have.   If any of you have other copies, would you mind posting information from them, crediting her for what's posted of course.   Or if you could make copies and send them to me, I'll type and post the information.   A lot of research went into her work and I'd hate to think of it being lost forever, and we can certainly use it.

Hi   Billie,
I have all of Martha Abbey's "Llewellyn Traces," from 1989 to 1996. I don't have the index to 1996. Martha said she was running behind; then when I contacted her again, she said her basement flooded and she lost her research. I think she stopped publishing at that point. I never heard from her again. All of the issues I have total 744 pages!

The easiest way to share the information would be to scan the pages and post the newsletters on line. Unfortunately, Martha's newsletter format is copyrighted and we can't do that unless she (or her heirs) give permission. The actual family data of course is not copyrighted and I can retype and post that information. If the newsletters were printed on white paper, single sheets it would be no problem to photocopy and send to you. But, they are printed on grey cardstock double-sized paper, folded and stapled in the middle seam.

I can start extracting data and posting it, but I can't guarantee how fast I'll be. In the meantime, if someone wants me to look up a specific individual and post that data first, I'd be glad to.

Diane.   That's a big, time consuming job, and whatever you can do will be a great help. If you want to photocopy a few pages and send them to me, I'll type them, too, and that might save you some time.

Is there any way you could put what she wrote about the Flewellens first?   I think we may have mixed some of our Lewellens up with them.

I've checked the online white pages in Pueblo, Colorado, where she lived for any Abbey family and there are none.   As I said, I've even called her former telephone number.   I have no idea how to reach her or anyone in her family at this point.

Thanks, Dorothy.   Martha is now a member of this site but I understand her books are in storage.

Will she ever be getting them out?

[EDITORS NOTE: we have these, must post]
