Mary

Could you provide me with Ceclia O'Connor's lineage?   Thinking she was a Llewellyn, I pulled a comparison of my Aunt Nell to her thinking they bear a strong resemblance.   Then, I saw   she married your Thomas Sylvester, Sr. and the photo was taken in NY.

My aunt was born Nell Sexton 1925 and is one of the Sextons whose dna proved us to be Lewallens.   However, her maternal grandmother was born in NY; Betsy Eudemia Potter, b 1854 Chenango Co, NY to Charles Wilson Potter (1825 NY) and Mary "Polly" Owen, b 1825 Albany, NY. Charles Wilson Potter's parents were Thomas Potter b 1777 New Haven, CT and Lucy Porter (unconfirmed).   His family was one of the First Families of America founding New Haven, CT.

Just curious if you've traced Cecelia's family, and if she might have some times to any of these lines.

Carol, do you have anything on the Owen family?

Carol Redd - Aug 22, 2011

Billie

Sadly, no - I have nothing on the Owen family.   I tried many years ago and got virtually nowhere.   The only way I know she was born in Albany, NY is that it's on her headstone.

Her parents, Margaret Keating O'Connor and James J, O'Connor were born in Ireland (counties unknown) and married after immigrating to New York in the 1850's.   They may have lived near Buffalo/Niagara Falls/Corning since relatives attending her 1906 wedding lived in those cities. The 1900 census states that Cecelia (b 1883) and her sister Mary (b 1881) were born in New York and younger brothers William, Joseph and James were born in Pennsylvania.   Subsequent census records list her place of birth as Pennsylvania.   For at least 90 years the family lived at 236 Hone Ave., Oil City, Venango Co, PA.   In 1913, age 30, Cecelia died of peritonitis following a ruptured appendix.   Her three sons were ages 6, 2 and 1.   Cecelia's father died in a railroad accident (year unknown) and her mother died in 1930.   Her sister's only child was James Whisner of Passaic, New Jersey.   Cecelia, her parents, and her three brothers are buried in Oil City, PA.

Then she must have died just a few months after the picture was taken.   No doubt Thomas remarried soon after, right?

Billie, he was an auditor/accountant for Pennsylvania Power and Light and was transferred out to Oklahoma in 1918 when that company developed public utilities in Oklahoma.   In Oklahoma he met and married Mame Lucile Talbot (1899-1978) in Tulsa, OK, and they lived in Ponca City, OK and Bristow, OK. In 1923 they had a daughter, Mary Lucille. Thomas Llewellyn had a stroke in 1926 and the family moved to Tulsa, OK so that Lucile could go to work and Thomas would be closer to medical care. In Dec. 1930 Thomas Llewellyn, Sr. died following a second stroke. His sons were ages 22, 19, 18 and his daughter was not quite 7 years old.
