Bill, thanks for posting the photo.

Do you have any idea where in Tennessee your Lewallens lived before moving to Banks County, Georgia?   I believe your Lewallens were in Banks County by 1850, weren't they?   Do you have the names of those who lived nearby from the census and where were they born?   Maybe that would give us a clue as to the county if they were from Tennessee, too.   Think so?

I have an old family history typed in 1970 by family that has note at top of 1st page saying the info..was 'Updated in 1970' . It states that John L. Lewallen migrated from Tennessee to northeast Ga. mountains. Banks Co. did not exist until 1958 when it was formed from 3-4 counties, one being Franklin Co.There were Lewallens in the area from at least as far back as late 1700's or early 1800's. I'm sure this family was in the area before 1850 but I've searched all nearby states north of Ga. I've found numerous Johns near reasonable age but nothing that jumps out at me. 'John' is too common a given name and these families used it a lot.

It'd help if I could find his burial info...

We're told that there were 2 different sets of Lewallens in this area at the same time.
