Great photo Gill !! I'm sure you know where this marker is in Glenmary. I would love to retrace their steps and go to the site with you and Joyce. Perhaps February if it ever stops this black ice weather. How is the father "John" in the photo related to sheriff John ?

Gillis Morgan - Jan 12, 2011

Diane, John (the father in photo) is the son of Campbell County Lewallen, who is the son of Sheriff John.   Campbell County Lewallen and Hugh are buried in the same cemetery.   Hugh's father, John, is also Kathleen's father (Kathleen is the one you met that has Anderson Grant Lewallen's old stone).   Let us know when you are available to meet us and we will go to the cemetery.   We were only about six miles from it where Anderson is buried.   Just in case you need our cell phone # again,

Gillis, is it possible to get a rubbing of that old stone for Anderson?   You know, where you put a sheet of paper over the stone and then do a pencil or graphite rubbing?   If so, I'd really like one to study.

Wow I never would of guessed Kathleen had a brother from WWI, she must have been the baby. Thanks Gill, I'll give you a call if it ever gets sunny again.

You're right, Kathleen was the baby of the family, a change-of-life baby.   Her mother was right at 50 yrs. old when she was born.   She never knew Hugh (obviously).   I was told that Hugh was gased by the Germans.

How's Kathleen doing? She is certainly a living history.

I haven't talked to Kathleen in a long time but Margaret talks to her pretty often and she tells me that Kathleen is not doing well.   She has a whale of information concerning the Lewallens if one has the time to sit down with her and discuss it all with her.   I don't know anyone who knows as much as she does about them.
