Thanks for posting those. They're really old. Not a lot survived that long. This would be Isaac the son of Jesse and Dorcas (Shepherd) Lewellen from Anson County, N.C.

Do you know anything about Mary Watts? Do you know who her parents were or who her siblings were? My Watts ancestors originally came from NC from the best we can tell.

Yes, Mary & Isaac are my gg grandparents. Her stone was so clear, as it had been turned downward & not exposed for many years. The pics in Shepherd Cem. were made in 1996 by a Shepherd cousin & the condition of the little cem. was some better than it looks now in more recent pics on Find-A-Grave. Mary Watts is the d/o Thomas & Lavina [Huntley] Watts. Mary is listed in many Fam. Trees as. MARY TRIMBLE WATTS based on the clerk's copy in the Wills Book in Anson Co., NC.
Whether Mary had a middle name of Trimble----or a brief mar. to a Trimble, I do not know. Virgil Huntley used the Trimble mid. name in his book on the Huntleys. [Virgil used the will info from the Book Copy of Wills in Anson Co., NC.--it is incorrect]-----copies of the the 1914 interview of Mr. Flake, by "old" John Huntley,which supply some of Virgil's info, do NOT call her other than MARY----I have a copy of the original will of Thomas Watts from the Archives in Raliegh, NC.---NO TRIMBLE NAME---clerk in Anson Co. made a goof!? Who are your Watts in NC.? There is no "known" evidence that I have seen that Thomas Watts was a Cherokee. Thomas's g.grandson, Thomas Lafayette Lewellen, [my g. grandfather] never indicated any Cherokee connection in a biographical sketch he gave to a Hillsboro, TX. newspapger in 1910. Thomas Lewellen' s obit/bio written by my grandmother,his daughter. tells Thomas's parents names & also mentions that Mary Watts Lewellen's father was Thomas Watts, an "Englishman" . [who knows??]

Joseph Watts was born in Ga and moved to NC. he was born about 1806 and was married to Nancy Charlotte McEntire. They were the parents of my gg grandfather Daniel Columbus Renaugh Watts, he was the father of Joseph Campbell Watts, who married Louvina and Louisa Lewallen. Of coarse not at the same time but, after Louvina died married her younger sister.
Joseph and Nancy live in Polk Co. Tn. where Daniel C R Watts married his wife Cynthia Melissa Freeland. I believe the Freelands also had come from Ga. before moving to Polk Co. The Watts' moved to Scott Co sometime after Daniel's marriage.

There does not seem to be any NC connection. Perhaps Joseph's father or grandfather might connect somewhere in Va. or Maryland----I just don't know. Sorry
