Description: This is from Ancestry.com WW1 Draft cards. I had him in my records as Joseph John Lewallen, but after finding this I corrected mine to Joseph Jackson Lewallen.

Does any one know his full death date ? All I have is 1930.

Debbie, This is good material.

My eyesight isn't the best.   I could make out Joseph Jackson, although it looked to me like they might have corrected it to be "Jackson."   Does it appear that way to you?   And what were the other names in there?   As I said, I'm having trouble reading this, but probably if I wore my glasses as I should, I could read it.

Isn't there a death certificate for him?   You'd think there would be since he died in 1930.

If you click on the above image it's gets larger, how ever the bottom isn't clear enough for me to read either. The top reads Joseph Jackson Lewallen born May 21, 1886. Age is 38 ? Yes, there should be an death cert. in the county he died in. Not all death cert. etc. can be found online and some counties such as Madison County, Georgia does not allow death cert. to be public record. For that matter even recent marriage records are not public records in Madison County either because it lists other marriages what the reason for divorce was, parents name etc. They could be a real treasure for genealogists if they did. North Carolina death records are online at ancestry.com and so are most other records, but not for Georgia.

Can you make out the name of the relative?   What was his wife's name?   Maybe that's what's written.

Debbie Garrett - Jul 29, 2008

Sorry, I can't make that part out. Joseph's wife's name was Ponie Carian or Carlan died 1966. Joseph has 4 known children Alma born 1906, Howard born 1908, Luria born 1910 , Grace born 1915,   I kind of thought the name at the bottom started with a H .... but doesn't appear to be Howard the son. Maybe a sister, or something.

I found this on ancestry.com in Ga. deaths 1919-1998. I'm sure this must be Joseph J.

I have Ponie real name as Perlonia A. Carlan, and they ask for nearest relative. All I have for marriage is about 1903, do you have their date of marriage?
