Description:

Lewallen, Daughter of Matthew & Elizabeth Lewallen Young

I just recently found out about this daughter, when going through headstones.

It is a bit confusing, because it says daughter of Matthew & Elizabeth Young, but yet it says Lewallen at top.

Elizabeth (her mother) was a Lewallen, but I don't understand why it would say Lewallen instead of Young at top?

Does anyone know about it?

This is a wild thought,   Could it possibly be Millie Young Lewallen's headstone?? She married Campbell Lewallen.   My gggrandparents.   Do you know where this was taken?

Millie Ann's headstone is posted on the site. I put hers and her husband Campbells in a frame together. It has their old and new stones both in the frame. I will find their headstones and post them seperately if you want me to. They will show up better that way.

What confuses me about this stone, it says Lewallen instead of Young at the top. Did they name a daughter Lewallen?

It could have been her given name.   There's a very well known artist in Monterey County and her given name is Lewellyn (or is it Llewellyn?).   I've had her paint some things for me which I've bought and resold at my store in the past.   So it could be this child's name was Lewallen.

Mystery solved! Thanks to Margery. This and the other stone like this is the back sides of   Millie Ann Young Lewallen's & Campbell Lewallen's headstone. Makes a lot of sense now.

Resa, you were right it is Millie's, but the back side of it. I forget about back sides sometimes.
