Maxine Moore, 72, a resident of Scott County Nursing Home, and formerly of Helenwood, passed away Sunday morning, January 3, 1993, following a long illness. Born in Scott County on February 20, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Archie Lewallen and the late Ella Miller Lewallen. She was also preceded in death by two sisters: Betty Glander and June Lewallen; two brothers: Eugene and Junior Lewallen; aunt, Rosalie Miller; son in law, Esco Norris; and stepmother, Irene Lewallen. She was a member of the White Rock Baptist Church. Survivors include one daughter, Marilyn Norris of Oneida; two grandchildren: Veronda Flint of Helenwood; and Paul Norris of Knoxville; one sister, Mildred Sexton of the Winona Community; one brother, Coolidge Lewallen of Augusta, Ga.; a special aunt, Naomi Shoopman of Helenwood; and step-brother, Hillard Butler of Oneida. Many other relatives survive also. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday evening, January 5 at 8 p.m. from the Chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home, with the Rev. Stan Vespie officiating. Burial services were held Wednesday morning, January 6 at 11 a.m. from the Daniel Memorial Cemetery in Helenwood. Jones & Son Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
