Ulyses Lewallen aged about 50, residing about three miles east of Glen Mary, was shot to death by his son, Hurstle, last tuesday night just after dusk. How old was Hurstle and what was the outcome of the trial?   Was it justifiable homicide or was Hurstlel sent to prison?   I wonder if it was a custom to carry a gun to the hay field for some reason.

How sad.

I only know what the obit says, but Hurstle was Killed In Action, During WW II, While Fighting In Europe. He fell on the field of Battle while Fighting for Freedom. So guess he got out of it. January 10, 1945-Belgium WWII-KIA.

Margery,

Do you know any details?

Resa Miller - Aug 13, 2009

My question is, if he was killed instantly, why did he shoot him 6 times?   There must have been something more that we don't know.   Six times seems like a lot of anger.

Resa Miller - Aug 20, 2009

My mom remembers going to this funeral as a child.
