Lisa, these old photos are fantastic.   You're so lucky to have them.   Vern and Amanda are a very nice looking couple.   Both look young.   How old were they when they married, do you know?   When you have a chance, tell us more about your ancestors.

Welcome to the site and we're so glad to have you.

For the rest of you on here, Lisa descends from - I'm almost positive - Shadrach and Deborah (Burson) Lewallen.   With a little more research, I'm sure   we can make the connection with no problem.   Hopefully, she has a Lewallen male who can do a DNA for us.   We've waited a long time for one so keep your fingers crossed.

This is a beautiful photograph.

I agree, this is a very beautiful photograph, but something I have wondered for a long time, why is the man always sitting and the woman standing in the old photographs? Does anyone know?

Lisa

Thank you for posting those photos.   What a handsome couple Vern and Amanda were.   Just wondering if you'd share with us where in Indiana they were.   It being 1903, I'm guessing they were your grandparents?

Carol, Lisa hasn't been on the site since March 24th, but he was born 1885 and died 1974, son of Daniel Lewallen born Dec. 14, 1862 Indiana and died 1948 Goshen, Elkhart, Indiana, and his wife Lenia.   In tracing the line, I'm amost positive they descend from Shadrach and Deborah (Burson) Lewellyn.   Vern and Amanda were probably Lisa's great grandparents.

Note that I have this family descends from Shadrach and Deborah Burson.   I'm not sure about that now.   I'll post more on the ancestors of Lisa in the next day or so and I'll need help in determining who the ancestors were so...please help.
