Billie, is this your Wiley?

Their children's names sure sound familiar to all the other Lewallen names from my ancestors.

Good find, Dorothy. Yes, that's "my" Wiley. I suspect it was taken from that Lewallen genealogy I put together ages ago - not the book with the variety of Lewallens - but my own genealogy and the book I put together for relatives both close and distant. The only thing I see different on there is they have Wiley's wife as Mary "Polly" and I have no idea where Polly came from. I've never seen that before.

Did you see this? It was a post-em link.
Wonderful picture. I love all these old pictures.

Thanks, Resa. It's good to post anything and everything we can find on the internet. Never know when it will come in handy.
I used to correspond with Sherry years ago on the Witts and the Randolphs and I believe the Lewallens, too. Maybe I should ask her if she'd like to join this site.
Could one of you who descend from Anderson tell us if what she has is correct?
Resa Miller - Mar 24, 2009
She sound like she may come from the same line that you do. Why don't you invite her? I decend from Anderson, but have poor records and can't verify hardly anything. I know there are some serious researcher in "our Lewallen family" that should be able to verify this, one way or the other.

Hi all:
We moved and our computer connection here has been run by gerbils (ha)-now Hughesnet-finally have a connection that my stay up long enough to come back to the site:
I don't know if this is anything but my greatgrandparents Amos and Nancy Lewallen named son number two-Henry Witt Lewallen born 04-24-1890 and died October 1973 in Arkansas. I always wondered where Henry Witt came from since it does not appear anywhere else-what do you think? Renee
Billie Harris - Jun 7, 2012
Renee, that is really interesting. There has to be a connection. Do we have information on here about your Amos and Nancy? We have all the children of Wiley and Mary Lewallen. Here's what we have on Wiley's family. You'll note the name of Witt mentioned several times.
[NOTE: broken link]
Wasn't Amos the son of Zachariah (b 1820 NC)? If they're they ones in Bell County, Texas, the Witt name may have some from one of the Witts in that area because the Witts moved to Bell and Fannin and a couple other nearby counties where my Lewallens lived.

My grandparents lived in Magnet, Texas, Mangum, OK, Munster, TX, Fort Smith, AR, Winters, Texas and Ovalo, Texas.
Yes Zachariah and Nancy lived in Scott County TN then they went to visit her brother in MO in 1870 Elihu Gregory McDonald then in 1873 they were in Madison County AR to sign off on the war of 1812 Pension for Lucretia Lawson Thompson the wife of Blagburn/Blackburn Thompson he died in Benton County, AR. They moved to Bell County, Texas in about 1875 near Temple, TX. Their son Harrison married Margaret Keeney there in 1875 and in 1880 their oldest son Michael 1839 died and is burried on the Kenny Family farm in Temple, TX. Zack and Nancy are on the 1890 census in Falls County, Texas and then Nancy dies in 1896 and burried at Bluff Creek near Shep, Texas and Zack is living with Harrison back to Bell County, Precinct 5 in 1900. he died 02-11-1910 burried in Bluff Creek Taylor County, Texas his son James Mason Lewallen 02-22-1849-05-15-1949 was living in Shep and maybe where Zack was living when he died. I have been unable to find a death cert. for Zack as of yet to verify his parents. I saw on Sherry Witts site that Anderson and Lucy's oldest son was a Zack Lewallen 1785 if that is true it would explain alot-maybe he died and Joel and Rachel raised Zack till he was 15 and married Nancy I also find no census for Zack and Nancy for the years 1840 and 1850 they appear again on the 1860 census Scott County, TN with all their kids being born in TN. Does this help? Renee

Some of the towns (Eddy, Temple) you mentioned in Texas are the very same towns where the descendants of Wiley and Mary Lewallen lived, however, they lived there before Zachariah did. Do your records show why they moved to Bell County? Was it because of relatives being there by any chance?
Renee Nazario - Jun 9, 2012
I have no knowledge of why they moved to Texas. Temple is just the first place I find them in Texas. Eddy I thought was the place Amos and Nancy moved because her father was a preacher there. I found a tax record listing on the LDS site for Zachariah in Bell County for 1875 and 1885. I was unable to see the document as I don't have access as of yet, it looks like it was moved over from the old Pilot program to their new system, with my computer connection being down for so long I am just now getting back into things. It would stand to reason that they all moved from Scott County TN to an area in another state Texas because there were relatives already there. Like Zack and Nancy going to MO to see her brother Elihu and then on to Arkansas to help out another relative Lawson/Thompson.
Do you find Zachariah or any of his kids listed on your census or land records for that area of Texas for the time period your relatives were living there?
